Conan rules! A hero we need today! Timeless stories.
Who knew Conan was such an established character?!
If you're a major Conan fan, then this is probably not the book for you. There are more comprehensive collections of Howard's Conan stories available, and for not really a whole lot more money (maybe ten or fifteen bucks more). If, however, you just want a collection of some of the best Conan stories as an introduction to the character or, perhaps, just because you feel your book collection should include at least some representation from Howard, then this is perfect for you.
And I should point out that if you are in that category and are thinking about trying Conan, then I heartily recommend that you do. For one, these are tales of high adventure. For another, Howard is one of the most precise, effective writers you will ever read, regardless of genre. He handled his typewriter like a skilled surgeon handles a scalpel. Howard is one of those writers who cause you to pause mid-story just to re-read a few paragraphs in appreciation for how well-constructed they are. Do give him a try! This volume is a great way to sample his work.
